Okay… I’ve been holding off on putting this song up because I’m quite aware its a wild card/hit or miss kind of song but whatever…. From the Danish pop group Alphabeat comes their lead single off their album of the same name, The Spell. Its got a very 80’s sound to it that you will either hate or love… you decide…

Selena Gomez’s debut single “Falling Down” had me hooked from the moment it hits the airwaves. Never before had Disney pop been so infectious, so it was only fitting she bring the bratty number to ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
Gomez was a bit timid in the vocals department but cut the girl some slack, it was her first televised performance and at least she wasn’t pole-dancing. Ah-hem!

As much as I love the Neighbours tradition of people leaving the soap to persue a career in music, I have to admit that I’d never heard of Stephanie McIntosh’s pop career!
Stephanie McIntosh was the second person to play Sky Mangel, taking on the role between 2003 – 2007. During this time, McIntosh was also releasing pop records, although success was practically non-existant it would seem.
Revisiting the album on Spotify independently of any marketing drive etc, I have to say, her material is non-offensive to the ear and not wholly bad… I can think of songs I enjoy far less in the Top 40 at the moment!
I especially like “So Do I Say Sorry First” (which only charted in the UK at number 258!).

Yesterday I was watching Trainspotting on blu-ray and I realized something : every movie I like has a good soundtrack which plays an important role underneath the story. Trainspotting is no exception to that : Like Scorcese and Tarantino, Boyle uses pop songs as rhapsodic mood enhancers, though in his own ravey-hypnotic style. Whether he’s staging a fumbly sex montage to Sleeper’s version of Atomic or having Renton go cold turkey to the ominous slow build of Underworld’s Dark and Long. Trainspotting doesn’t have much narrative holding it together. Nor does it really have the dramatic range to cope with such wild extremes. Most of it sticks to the same moderate pitch, with entertainment value enhanced by Mr. Boyle’s savvy use of wide angles, bright colors, attractively clean compositions and a dynamic pop score – was said by an american movie critic.
Anyway, 2 songs for the original soundtrack were memorable in my humble opinion : Underworld’s Dark & Long (although most people would remember Born slippy afterwards) and Leftfield’s A final hit. The first song played during Mark Renton (played by Ewan Mc Gregor) fight with his heroin addiction : a plethora of his friend appeared while this song enhanced his paranoia. Leftfield’s song played during the last heroin shot Renton gave himself, as if this song had been made for this peculiar scene. In 2004, the film was voted the best Scottish film of all time by the public in a poll for The List magazine. Needless to say that this soundtrack (Which also features Brian Eno, Iggy Pop and New order) is a must have, especially if you’re looking for a hit..

Fredagens inlägg försvann in i feberdimman. Inte så att jag tvunget måste skriva varje dag, men jag har tempot uppe och kände mig lite skamsen över att jag bröt en fin trend.
Tack för era förslag på uttjatade videos. KdL´s förslag på Come as you are känns som det bästa förslaget hittills. (Men det var svårt att välja, alla förslagen är lysande exempel).Den låten spelades till döds. Särskilt den där jävla unplugged-versionen.
Passus: var inte hela MTV´s Unplugged egentligen det ultimata exemplet på en sådan här lista?
Jag hatar fortfarande MTV Unplugged. Det finns en bra krönika i ett gammalt nummer av Pop som behandlar just det där fenomenet. Jag tror att den skrevs av Lars Nylin? Han hade en beef med gubbrockens fanbärare Måns Ivarsson som i någon recension av ett band jaginteminnsnamnetpå där han jämförde dem med Rolling Stones. Men de, det okända bandet, var inte lika bra eftersom sångaren inte, och det här är underbart, “bearbetade publiken från yttersta scenkanten”. LN plockade upp det där och skrev utifrån det citatet varför hela pratet om “riktig musik”, dvs unplugged och Rolling Stones, var rent jävla skitsnack.
Valross, orkar du leta fram det numret får du gärna kolla om jag minns rätt.
Dagens förslag, och ni är som vanligt varmt välkomna att kommentera, är ett strålande exempel på bra låtar som spelades ta mig fan tills korna kom hem och dog av leda.
Depeche Mode – Strange Love (VH1 Week End Top 20)Strangelove är en lysande låt. Men den spelades sönder. Det är knappt jag idag kan lyssna på den.

Em um ano melancólico para a música internacional com a morte de Michael Jackson, o cenário em 2009 registra até o momento grandes trabalhos. A música pop se fortalece como a mais aceita e a vendida do mundo. Muitos nomes usam de pouco capacidade criativa para atingir os objectivos, porém são poucos que possuem a fórmula perfeita, e o Black Eyed Peas já tem patenteada essa receita.
Após quatro anos sem um trabalho inédito, e em meio ao estouro feito pela cantora Fergie, a banda retornou explorando muito os sintetizadores e dando vida própria à música eletrônica. The E.N.D é o quinto disco do Black Eyed Peas e reforça o enorme talento de Will I Am em explorar o cenário atual da musica com grande estilo e criativdidade.
E estilos musicais nunca foram preocupação para a banda, pois os trabalhos anteriores registraram uma enorme variedade de tendencias e ritmos, sempre através de experimentos muito bem executados. Para aqueles, como eu, que entendem que a música perfeita alia a arte e a capacidade de entretenimento, o Black Eyed Peas recebe com méritos o título de maior nome da musica pop atual.
E essa certeza se ratifica pela ja extensa lista de hits, adorados por publico e critica. Essa é uma capaciade inquestionavel da banda que surgiu sob varias comparações aos Fugees, mas que ganharam identidade própria depois de trabalhos impecáveis, certamente mais comerciais do que os apresentados pelos Fugees.
The E.N.D é um dos grandes albuns de 2009. Mais um ponto para a brilhante carreira pop do Black Eyed Peas.

17 mil niños necesitados de La Gran Manzana convocan a un selecto grupo de neoyorquinos en la décima gala anual de la asociación New Yorkers for Children en el exclusivo restaurante Cipriani, de Manhattan.
En el evento se recaudan significativos fondos para distintos programas de ayuda a los menores, con el eje principal en la educación integral.
Y si la reunión de éste glamoroso grupo de neoyorquinos tiene por objeto reunir fondos para la juventud en riesgo social, hay una mexicana avecindada en Nueva York que no pudo estar ausente del evento.

Saiu na internet um preview de uma música da Trina que tem participação da Lady Gaga. O nome da música é Let Them Hoes Fight [Clique aqui para ouvir!] que tem uma batida hip-hop com uma entrada no pop.
Pra quem não sabe, Trina sempre tem participações de peso em seus Cd’s e muitas polêmicas em relação à suas letras, assim a cantora se tornou um nome quente no cenário Hip-Hop. Bem, ela não é famosíssima aqui no Brasil, mas tem um mercado quente no mundo do rap/hip-hop nos E.U.A.
Bem, eu não a conhecia mas gostei dessa nova música, na qual tudo indica estar no cd da Trina.

Kirsten Dunst estará em Homem-Aranha 4.
Uma ótima notícia foi confirmada durante essa semana e deixou os fãs do “cabeça de teia” extremamente animados com a mais nova contratação do elenco. Quando a produção para Homem-Aranha 4 (Spider-Man 4) foi confirmada pela Columbia Pictures foi muito difícil convencer o diretor Sam Raimi a voltar a ocupar o posto de diretor, mas no final ele acabou aceitando. Após isso tivemos mais um turbulento período de negociações com o ator Tobey Maguire para que ele voltasse a interpretar o nosso heroi Peter Parker e ele acabou aceitando também, mas uma “perna do tripé principal” ainda não estava confirmada na produção.
A indefinição era enorme, as negociações foram bastante demoradas, mas o final felizmente foi o que os fãs mais queriam. A Columbia Pictures confirmou que a atriz Kirsten Dunst voltará a interpretar a personagem Mary Jane Watson no filme Homem-Aranha 4 (Spider-Man 4). Essa com certeza é uma excelente noticia para os fãs da franquia e, especialmente, para os fãs da atriz, que terão a oportunidade de acompanhar mais uma produção com sua participação.

ZACATECAS, México, sep. 22, 2009.- Miguel Bosé se presentó la noche de ayer en el cierre de la Feria de Zacatecas, que marcó a su vez el cierre de su gira Papitour.
Minutos antes de las nueve de la noche, Bosé apareció en el escenario, cantó tres temas sin interrupciones., después agradeció el apoyo del público y prometió que ya no habrá más conciertos de su último disco Papito.
“Bienvenidos a todos y a todas, éste va a ser el último concierto de Papito de la historia, ya no habrá más conciertos de Papito, pasaremos a lo próximo y es un gusto que acabe aquí”, dijo Bosé.
Bosé conquistó a las más de 20 mil personas que acudieron al concierto y recordó que son tres décadas las que ya lleva de su carrera.
“Vamos a celebrar muchas cosas esta noche sobre todo vamos a celebrar algo que vosotros hemos construido juntos y que son 30 años de música. Tengo que darles las gracias, sin vuestra paciencia, complicidad y apoyo, si no hubiera sido por todos vosotros, yo hoy después de 30 años no estaría en el escenario”, explicó Miguel.
Casi dos horas de concierto en un recorrido por toda su trayectoria musical; por los temas de ayer, por los éxitos de siempre.

Bravely, we are now not only shown the garish stage and the freaks, puppets, divas, exhibitionists, scary sexy monsters but… the quiet bedrooms, the rumpled beds where partners may or may not sleep, the view of empty streets from its lonely windows.
We are made curious about the sadness, the stillness that may go on BETWEEN these songs.
Make no mistake this is still a thrill ride, full of carnival hipsters hustling supreme, and frantic punters screaming along with the dangerous rides, but here, and there, and here again, not so hidden away, the girls and boys dare to show their tenderness, even their dreams, unfolded carefully and placed in our grubby hands.
On one page selling this CD they are described as emo, but please don’t be fooled, there is no soft boy rich kid pampered star angstNwhines here. The lipstick is smeared from the sheer exuberant kiss and the eyeliner stains are from tears arrived honestly from fits of giggles and tears that fought hard to escape the calm internal.
There are pop songs to be sung loud by party girls, alive and free holding tight to the simple expectation of a great night out, and there are lullabies of the crooked kind that soothe and push the soul into a welcome unease with extra measure.
There is magic here. Give it a listen to.

Karkari –Mammut (Record Records)
I could tell you that Mammut sound like a frosty and refreshing mix of the best of those American 4AD groups (Belly and Throwing Muses) a bit of Bjork, a spoonful of Sonic Youth twisted into the pop sensibilities that Catatonia got so right. I could tell you that the band has had (already) three number one hits in their native Iceland and managed to cause a stir at the SXSW festival. I could leave it at that, and move on, pretty happy that you curious gentle reader, will go seek out the band and their music. Or you could think I am spitting out (politely of course) a bunch of facts and you will remain sadly disenthralled.
I shall instead shake the songs up in a virtual hat of the finest cloth, and let them hit the senses, and report what occurs.
I am reminded of old toys, cherished by teenagers in smiling nostalgia for their innocent child hood, toys that are still picked up and loved and kept in view as new makeup is applied and new adventures of the heart dreamt about. These plaything have an endearing roughness to them, all is not shiny shiny and plastic disposable.
I think of glam rock bands strutting their stuff on small Televisions in untidy sitting rooms early Friday evenings, the smell of dinner overpowered by the sweeter smell of the night (clubs) ahead.
Some songs make me think of mosh pits and bodies and beer bottles disengaging themselves from sweaty hands and crashing kamikaze to the pavement to join the wrecks of their fellow soldiers. Some songs make me think of almost empty studios, musicians huddled in the centre of a landscape of once twisting now still cables and wires and leads.
Some songs make me close my eyes and fall back, not thinking of the getting UP. Some songs make me want to grin and cook and dance and shop.

Delapan peneliti dari kampus Harvard datang ke sebuah desa di Jawa Timur. Tiga tahun mereka berdiam dan meneliti di desa yang disebut Modjokuto. Ternyata tiga tahun menjadi waktu yang amat panjang bagi salah seorang di antara mereka. Setelah 40 tahun ia menulis tentang desa tersebut, lelaki yang sudah berkepala enam ini kembali ke Modjokuto, mengenang betapa banyak hal yang belum disampaikannya tentang desa ini.
Clifford Geertz – salah seorang peneliti itu – tak pernah berhenti terkesima menghadapi kekayaan kebudayaan yang dinalogikannya sebagai taman metafora yang terlalu lebat. Saat meneliti Modjokuto, ia merasa terpaksa harus menangkap kompleksitas, ambiguitas, dan kerumitan ke dalam peta yang amat terbatas. Peta yang bagi Geerts tak bisa menghadirkan keluasan dimensi desa kecil itu. Namun, terlanjur, sang peneliti keburu dikenalkan dengan kategori keislaman orang Jawa : abangan, santri, dan priayi.
Pengetahuan adalah kuasa
Sebagaimana kesadaran Geertz, dunia sebenarnya memperlakukan pengetahuan sebagai sebuah peta. Dalam fungsi untuk memperluas cakrawala pandang sang subyek yang tengah mencari tahu. Metafora “perluasan cakrawala pandang” ini berasosiasi dekat dengan praktik kekuasaan, Sebagaimana misalnya bila kita mengetik frase knowledge is power, Google akan segera menderetkan bukti bagaimana pengetahuan diperoleh sebagai hasil fungsi kekuasaan.
Pengetahuan didefinisikan sebagai sesuatu yang dapat menangkap realitas secara menyeluruh. Oleh karena itu, pakar, ahli, peneliti, dan mereka yang dianggap dan menganggap diri sebagai subyek pengetahuan cenderung dekat dengan posisi pengambil kebijakan. Jadi, sebuah negeri, seperti Indonesia, selalu dipandang dari atas, menjadi sesuatu yang ada di bawah dan perlu ditolong. Bagaimana, misalnya, sejarah negeri ini perlu diubah, adalah sebuah tema dari subyek pengetahuan sejak 40 tahun lalu.
Kerap dimusuhi
George Kahin mencuat karena kejujuran dan kekagumannya kepada nasionalisme Asia. Dalam kerja pelopor studi Indonesia di Universitas Cornell ini, kita menemukan satu modus penelitian yang justru dihindari oleh peneliti lain : keterlibatan dengan obyek yang ditelitinya. Modus yang ternyata membuat Kahin kerap dimusuhi para petinggi negaranya sendiri.
Dalam upayanya mengenali Indonesia ini secara komprehensif, Kahin mengambil posisi sebagai ‘pendamping”, termasuk saat negeri ini ingin mengubah sejarahnya sendiri. Dan itu dilakukannya dengan cara melupakan sejarahnya sendiri. Sebuah sikap, yang suka atau tidak, memang memancing kontroversi.
Pencipta sejarah
Sejarah siapakah yang diwakili oleh seorang subyek pengetahuan – seperti Kahin – sebenarnya bisa ditelusuri lewat satu pertanyaan sederhana : bahasa siapakah yang digunakan ? Apakah semacam bahasa sosial kapital yang digunakanesai Robert Putnam untuk menggambarkan sebuah masyarakat yang bermain boling sendirian karena terjebak dalam kegamangan ?
Bahasa itu kemudian begitu populer (menjadi “pop”) bahkan mendunia dan bisa merangsang Presiden Clinton mengudangnya dan berbagi keresahan.
Bukan hanya Clinton. Dalam praksisnya, Putnam pun diundang ke negeri ini. Terutama dalam kekuatan bahasanya. Kekuatan yang kini meleluasa di negeri ini mengabaikan Koentjaraningrat dan Sartono Kartodirdjo yang sejak lama menggarap sejarah Indonesia dengan kedalaman yang sulit ditandingi.
Namun, tetap saja dunia lebih mengenal Clifford Geertz, peneliti Modjokuto yang penuh energi itu. Karena dalam sejarah yang dibuat dengan cara seperti itu, kita akan menemukan ‘apa” sebenarnya adalah ‘siapa” : sesuatu yang bergerak, hidup. Bukans esuatu yang dapat didominasi dan dikonstitusi oleh sekian teori.
Oleh karena itu, Selo Semardjan lebih dikenal sebagai seorang manusia Yogyakarta ketimbang doktor lulusan Cornell – sebagaimana Clifford Geertz adalah seorang warga Modjokuto bukan warga harvard atau Princeton. Mereka ada(lah) bukti bagaimana pengetahuan hanya dimungkinkan melalui proses dialog dan pembukaan diri. Pada saat subyek pengetahuan menulis, dirinya juga ditulis. Subyek pengetahuan yak mengubah atau menggerakkan sejarah. Namun, perjumpaannya dengan realitas;ah yang menciptakan sejarah itu sendiri.
Di situlah manusia Indonesia dikisah dan berkisah. Di situlah kita dapatkan, peradaban besar yang cerdik menempatkan diri di antara jaringan peradaban yang telah ada (Denys Lombard) ; negara yang didirikan anak-anak muda dengan bermain di antara kekuatan-kekuatan dunia (Kahin) ; seorang Sultan yang melepas kekuasaannya agar rakyat memiliki masa depan (Selo) ; atau sebuah Modjokuto yang sukses mengajarkan makna hidup kepada seoang profesor dari Princeton (Geertz) ; dan seterursnya.
Dan seterusnya, Anda menulis sejarah Anda sendiri.

This Saturday 26 September sees melodic party rock covers band FOG playing the legendary Arabian Horse pub in Aberford, just east of Leeds. ‘This is a fantastic pub which has really come on since the new landlord & landlady took it over,’ says Chris Berry, lead singer of FOG. ‘We’re really looking forward to a great night – and it will be our last pub gig for a few weeks as we hit the road with some great functions in both Yorkshire and County Durham in the coming weeks. We’re then back to rock Scholes once again @ The Buffers on Friday 16 October – with some great new numbers in the set for Autumn too.’

Da domenica rischiano di diventare i miei nuovi eroi però. Prendete la Ventura, quella che “non fa più x-factor ma mi piaceva di più quando c’era”, quella di Bettarini e Dolce & Gabbana e bla bla bla, quella insomma che, come già narratovi su queste pagine tempo fa, non conosce una mazza in materia di rock ma chissà per chè chissà per come, è spesso chiamata a discuterne (mentre gente come Gegè Telesforo non son durati il tempo di accorgersi di quanto bravo dovevi essere, per andare in tv, anche solo una decina di anni fa o poco più…). Prendete i Muse che con la precisa intenzione di burlare il bravo presentatore di turno, si scambiano i ruoli sul palco con conseguente convinzione, a fine performance, che l’intervista sia fatta al frontman di turno, mentre il cosiddetto batterista è importante citarlo perchè ha una casa in Italia ma non bella come quella di Clooney (e qui il trash impera impetuoso…), e non perchè in realtà si chiami Matthew Bellamy e sia il cantante e voce portante della band…

Περασμένα μυστήρια του ‘79, λίγο ανατριχιαστικά, μια και ο διευθυντής φωτογραφίας είχε πεθάνει κι αυτός κατά τη διάρκεια των γυρισμάτων τότε και σου σήκωνε την τρίχα γενικώς.Υποβλητική ταινία. Νόμιζες ότι μυρίζεις το γρασίδι. Τρία όσκαρ. Σε καμία περίπτωση δεν υποστηρίζω ότι οι D’Urbervilles σου σηκώνουν την τρίχα… Τουναντίον θα ΄λεγα ότι κατευνάζουν. Εξ αυτών ο Johnny O μάλιστα έχει και το δικό του σχήμα Diamond Rings στο οποίο μπορείς να φανταστείς ποιο ρόλο της παγκόσμιας λογοτεχνίας θα ήθελε να ενσαρκώσει.

“Fever” is to be the second German single off Cascada’s third studio album, Evacuate The Dancefloor. The video was filmed over a month ago and has recently been uploaded onto Youtube by Cascada’s official Youtube Channel.
I have to say that I’m really liking it. The blatant dropping of the f-bomb (which is censored) is interesting to hear from an artist (well, group) that has covered songs such as Sk8ter Boi and Kids In America on their studio albums. “Fever” sports some of the same synth-beats that the album’s title track did. Considering the fact that Cascada’s first two albums consisted of tiringly samey dance anthems in a row, hearing a slightly darker electronic sound is a fresh breath of air. I’ll be posting my thoughts on Evacuate… as soon as my copy arrives in the mail. As for “Fever”, I most certainly approve.
Pünktlich zum Herbstbeginn melden sich die größten Melancholiker der hiesigen Poplandschaft mit einem neuen Album zurück. Element of Crime mischen auf “Immer da, wo du bist, bin ich nie” vertraute Klänge und Texte in altbewährter Sven-Regener-Manier mit luftig-leichten Countrynummern.
Die Tage werden kürzer. Der Sommer verabschiedet sich, der Herbst steht vor der Tür. Die ersten Bäume verlieren ihre blassgelben oder rostigroten Blätter. Da trifft es sich gut, dass sich die größten Melancholiker der hiesigen Poplandschaft rechtzeitig mit einem neuen Album zurückmelden.
Zehn neue Songs präsentieren “Element of Crime” um Sänger und Gitarrist Sven Regener – der auch als Autor der “Herr Lehmann”-Romane zu literarischem Ruhm gelangte – auf ihrem mittlerweile 13. Album. “Immer da, wo du bist, bin ich nie” klingt überraschend und vertraut zugleich und könnte ihr mit Gold ausgezeichnetes Album “Mittelpunkt der Welt” (2005) toppen.
Schnoddrige Liebeserklärungen
Im gesetzten Alter hat das Quartett – bis auf Regener sind die übrigen drei Bandmitglieder jenseits der 50 – seine Liebe für Countrymusik entdeckt. Gleich das erste Lied “Blick aus dem Fenster” ist eine beschwingte Ausfahrt, die den Hörer geradewegs aus Berlin-Kreuzberg nach Nashville zu führen scheint.
Statt einem Chanson im Dreivierteltakt gibt es eine luftig-leichte Countrynummer, stilecht mit Slidegitarre dargeboten, zu der am Ende ein Akkordeon stößt. Dazu singt Regener mit ungewohnter Schnoddrigkeit Liebeserklärungen, wie “Was für Cloppenburg Pfanni ist, bist du für mich, und dann scheiß auf Metaphern, die sind böse und heiß und im Gesicht haben sie Pickel, die sind nicht schön”.
Mundharmonika und UkuleleDiese Country-Ausflüge mischen Element of Crime mit vertrauten Klängen der vergangenen Alben. So entstehen Lieder, die im Tempo mal verhaltener, in der Stimmung melancholischer sind – wie in “Einer kommt weiter” -, mal im Walzertakt daherkommen – wie bei “Kaffee und Karin” – oder einfach stumpf rocken – wie das titelgebende Stück “Immer da, wo du bist, bin ich nie”.
Dazu setzen Element of Crime neben Schlagzeug, Gitarre und Bass auch Mundharmonika, Steel-Gitarre, Akkordeon, Ukulele, Streicher, Orgel und Trompete ein. Immer dezent im Wechsel, so dass kein Lied überfrachtet klingt.
Herz für romantische VerliererDoch die Musik ist nur hübsches Beiwerk für Regeners Texte, die wieder zwischen lakonischer Alltagspoesie und traurigen Liebesliedern pendeln und ein Herz für romantische Verlierer haben. Regener schwankt dabei zwischen bissiger Selbstironie, (”Dass das Bier in meiner Hand alkoholfrei ist, ist Teil einer Demonstration gegen die Dramatisierung meiner Lebenssituation” in “Kaffee und Karin”), zwischen Wehmut (”Der hat ein Erdbeereis in seiner Hand, das hängt bedenklich schräg nach vorn in seiner Waffel und tropft sich selbstverschwendend auf die Haute Couture am Leib des ganzen Stolzes seiner schönen Eltern und wird zu Dreck dort, genau wie ich bei dir” in “Am Ende denk ich immer nur an dich”) und großem Spaß (”Freu dich nicht zu früh auf den Sommer, Weihnachten ist gerade erst vorbei, im Einkaufszentrum gibt es heiße Ohren und im Fernsehen läuft der weiße Hai” in “Der weiße Hai”).
Erfolg trotz deutscher TexteElement of Crime bleiben sich damit auch auf “Immer da wo du bist bin ich nie” treu. Spätestens mit ihrem 1991 erschienenen Album “Damals hinterm Mond” hatte die 1985 in Berlin-Kreuzberg gegründete Band ihren Stil gefunden. Bis dahin spielte die Band artifiziellen Postpunk und Regener sang in englischer Sprache. Als “Damals hinterm Mond” Anfang der Neunziger erschien, war die Neue Deutsche Welle längst verebbt und die Hamburger Schule steckte noch in ihren Kinderschuhen.
Deutschsprachige Popmusik war alles andere als populär. Trotzdem enthielt das Album nur deutschsprachige Lieder. Für die damalige Zeit ein gewagter Schritt. Das Album wurde dennoch ein Erfolg.
Schönheit des ScheiternsEin Grund dafür waren Regeners Texte. Sie nahmen damals schon vorweg, wofür er Jahre später als Autor der drei “Herr Lehmann”-Romane gefeiert wurde: Alltagsbeobachtungen und autobiografische Fetzen, die mal voller Sarkasmus, mal voller augenzwinkernder Selbstironie steckten, denen aber immer ein melancholischer Unterton innewohnte.
Regeners Lust, die Schönheit des tragischen Scheiterns in immer neuen Wendungen zu zeigen, war spürbar. Ein weiterer Grund für den Erfolg von “Damals hinterm Mond” war die musikalische Hinwendung zum Chanson, was die Lieder eingängiger und massenkompatibel machte.
Experimente mit dem MassengeschmackDiesen Sound verfeinerte die Band mit jedem Album ein bisschen mehr. Dabei scheute die Band auch vor Experimenten nicht zurück. So zum Beispiel auf ihrem 1999er Album “Psycho”, auf dem sie Sequenzer, Synthesizer oder Stimmverzerrer benutzten und das knapp an den Top Ten der deutschen Albumcharts vorbeischrammte.
Die beiden darauffolgenden Alben verzichteten auf derlei Spielereien. Machte das Album “Romantik” (2001) mit einer hochpolierten Produktion seinem Namen alle Ehre, ging “Mittelpunkt der Welt” (2005) in die entgegengesetzte Richtung und klang rauer und reduzierter aber immer unverkennbar nach Element of Crime.
In einem Interview mit der Zeitung “Die Welt” sagte Regener vor kurzem, dass Element of Crime in ihrer Karriere nur vier verschiedene Lieder geschrieben hätten. Alle anderen seien nur Variationen derselben gewesen. Das mag sein, aber wenn diese vier Lieder so schön sind wie auf “Immer wo du bist bin ich nie”, dann dürfen Element of Crime sie ruhig häufiger wiederholen.
“Immer da, wo du bist, bin ich nie” ist am 18. September erschienen.
Modeled after the Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot collaborations of the 60’s, Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson’s Break Up is a concept album that “re-enacts the tempestuous course of a love affair on the rocks.” It’s neither particularly high minded nor is it marked by overreaching by the artists: It’s really just a very good collection of pop songs with a mostly 70’s country rock bent and distinctly modern, lush production values. Johansson’s voice is sometimes borderline thin, but Yorn’s done a good job writing for her here, and mostly their vocals together shine. The album is also short and sweet at 9 tracks and just under 30 minutes, Yorn and Johansson erring on the side of not enough rather than too much. Recommended for their fans, and fans of easygoing “adult alternative” fare as well as country rock flavored indie pop. Standout cuts: “Relator,” “Wear And Tear,” “Blackie’s Dead” and “Clean.”

Caprichos del destino…
Desde que comencé la universidad siempre tuve dos sueños. Uno, estudiar -que, no tanto ser (arquitecto)- arquitectura. Dos, vivir en una metrópoli.
Según parece, estoy viviendo en una metrópoli. Que.. tengo miedo que me consuma. Y, sé que algún día estudiaré arquitectura. Pero veo aun mas atractivo el reto de conseguirlo por mis propios medios y trabajando.
El 2009 fue un año de planes y desgracias. La vida post-universitaria pintaba muy bien en el mundo de la construcción antes de aterrizar la letal crisis que nos arropa. Siempre fuí, soy y seré positivo y optimista, quiza demasiado. Vi el año como un momento de transición y reflexiones, cuando me di cuenta que todos aquellos planes que tenia mas o menos planteados desde que habia comenzado la carrera se iban torciendo al mismo ritmo que la crisis nos comía el terreno y el paro iba subiendo en victimas.
2009 fue un año de esperanzas frustradas, “aplicaciones” sin respuesta que desesperaban; pues el esfuerzo realizado parecia que no tenía compensación alguna.
Finalmente, tras descartar opciones europeas (…) me decante por opciones estatales. Barcelona y Madrid eran las ciudades que mas oportunidades tanto laborales como profesionales podían ofrecerme.
Me decante por buscar incrementar mis conocimientos académicos viendo que el campo laboral es un campo sumido en la desesperación y la tristeza.
Di por sentado que las cartas estaban echadas y que mi destino no se iba a decidir por mis ganas o esfuerzos pasados.
Barcelona me abrió la puerta de un futuro a corto plazo asequible y esperanzador. Un postgrado que me especializa y un curso que me otorga el título de graduado en ******* lo demuestran.
Acepto. Asumo que mi vida no se va decidir por los primeros, grandes y espectaculares planes que me surgan en la mente. Asumo que la vida de alguna manera te demostrará confianza cuando tu le demuestres que estas capacitado para soportar reveses.
Si algún día lo consigo seré ******* especializado en *******. Hasta ese día, quizá, hasta el día que vea el primero de mes que mi cuenta recibe un salario proporcional al esfuerzo realizado, no entienda realmente lo que he conseguido.
Con todo… quemaré Razzmatazz.

Derek Webb is probably best known for his association with the band Caedmon’s Call, although he has also had a strong solo career going for several years now. His latest solo release is Stockholm Syndrome; is an album that throws everything into it except for the proverbial kitchen sink. You’ll find everything from early jazz and 50’s doo-wop to electronic dance filled beats in its songs.
Webb pulled on former Caedmon’s Call band mate Josh Moore, who now mainly works as a producer on Hip-Hop projects (Bun-B, Slim Thug), to co-produce this release.
With each new release it seems like Webb is on a mission to stretch the musical envelope as far as he can and it appears that his record label INO has decided that Stockholm Syndrome went too far and crossed over that boundary line. The label at first refused to release it, deeming it to be too controversial. After some legal wrangling, I’m not sure of the whole story, but I guess some tweaks where made to it that satisfied the label and on September 1st the album was released.
Fans of Webb who haven’t listened to his music for awhile will be in for a real shock, gone are the roots rock/folk sounds, having been replaced by synth and electronic sounds. You can tell that Webb has a lot to say about the sad state of the world today by listening to the song lyrics found on Stockholm Syndrome. Unfortunately for me after awhile it got really depressing and almost reached the point of sounding like that whining kid who’s in front of you at the grocery store line that just won’t stop yelling and complaining as his parents try to quite him down.
While I can appreciate Webb’s wanting to spread his wings and try new and different things, I feel like he would have been better served by taking more gradual turns in his music road instead of such of a radical turn.
Musically I enjoyed a few of the songs including, “Freddie Please,” a moody, melodic song that mixes a 50’s sock-hop slow dance song style with electronic elements. “Jen & Jimmy,” is a nice sounding pop song that makes good use of its electronic elements. “Heaven” is the one song found on this release that offers up a glimpse of a more familiar roots rock edge with its acoustic guitar part.
Webb is now out on the road on the, ‘Black Eye Tour’ that started in September and runs through November 1st in support of the release.
While I can appreciate Webb’s wanting to get his word out on the ills of the world by using provocative lyrics he needs to realize that sometimes less is more. Stockholm Syndrome does offer up a few bright spots but there just aren’t enough of them for me to recommend this release.
Geralmente eu me sinto enganado ouvindo música pop. Tudo tem aquele jeitinho cínico, muito produzido, descolado etc. Isso não ocorre naquelas bandas que preservam incólume sua pedreirície. Barack Obama has described Kanye West as a “jackass” after the rapper’s outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The US president made the uncharacteristically blunt remark during an interview with CNBC, the US business news network, on Monday.
Although Mr Obama delivered the aside during an off-the-record segment of the pre-recorded interview, it was picked up and tweeted by a journalist from a rival network.
The rapper has been widely condemned for interrupting 19-year-old country-pop singer Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech at the New York award ceremony on Sunday night to claim that his friend Beyoncé should have won the best female video gong.
In an contrite appearance on the Jay Leno show last night, he said that he planned to apologise to the Swift in person and said he was going to take some time off from the music industry.

Few know the legend of The Bionic Rapper in the United States, but this lack of knowledge cannot deny the point that Joe Stern-McGovern aka The Bionic Rapper stands not only as Japan’s greatest foreign rapper, but its greatest rapper of all time, period!

Die erste Single „We are Golden“ aus seinem zweiten Album „The Boy Who Knew Too Much“, das noch diese Woche, am 18.September erscheint, tönt seit Tagen ständig aus dem Radio und auf den Musik-TV-Kanälen kann man sich dem Video dazu auch nicht entziehen. Mika ist also wieder da und er will es krachen lassen! Wie viel Aufwand in dem neuen, sehr gelungenen Musikvideo von Mika steckt, sieht man in diesem Making-Of-Video:
Der schräge und bunte Mika kann es wohl noch immer nicht fassen, als er vor zwei Jahren quasi über Nacht mit seinen Songs „Grace Kelly“ und „Relax, take it easy“ berühmt geworden ist und weltweit unglaubliche Erfolge verbuchen konnte. Ihm ist bewusst, dass er das ohne seine treue Fan-Base nicht geschafft hätte und die will er jetzt ganz besonders schön beschenken. Unknown this only last June, the pretty blonde definitely established herself as the new British pop siren due to her impressive vocals and her inborn charisma. Coming out of the blue, she arrived like a delicate breeze on the musical market and blew out people boredom and idleness. Her first single “Mama do” topped the UK single chart, making her the first English female singer to get a number one single without any TV reality show background. A star was born. Pixie Lott is going to release her debut studio album on September 14th, a week later her second hit release “Boys & Girls”. It’s now available so check it out together!
Here is one of the most anticipated albums of the year, here is a quality piece of product from an artist who cast a spell on the British crowd and me too, and here is my obsession.
First Pixie Lott’s album is a brilliant combination of contemporary pop music with retro influences, but still sounding very fresh. This musical dichotomy makes Pixie Lott’s soul come to light and revealed her feelings about teenage life that fluctuates between love issues and enjoying the club scene. Besides, this double dimension is perceptible in Pixie‘s will to make her listeners have a real good time with danceable tracks but also to move them with such beautiful ballads. Thus, this opus shines artistically speaking due to these disparate oppositions. Even Pixie’s vocals are still very different: her voice can be sweet and juvenile but also powerful and mature. This is the strongest point of the album: all its nuances appeal to us and show how serious the work on this musical production has been.
The album starts off with “Mama Do”, her first single that pushed her towards the front of the stage and shows to the whole world who Pixie Lott is. Besides, this track is really representative of Pixie’s vocal, image and musical direction. This is a sensational pop track including 60’s soulful elements. Pixie sounds like a mix of Winehouse dark style and Duffy’s glamour. The second track, “Cry me out” is a classic 50’s pop ballad where Pixie‘s vocals extent leak out. The chorus high notes are perfectly executed and show how mature and full her voice is. It sounds epic and just gorgeous. “Nothing Compares”, like the previous one, is a stunning epic ballad whose verses are completely by the chorus where Pixie shines vocally speaking; disclosing every nuance she can sing.
Pixie has the sense not to weary her listeners too much with “solemn ballads” and knows how to brighten up their days with such sweet treasures like “Band Aid” or even “My Love”. The atmosphere of the album becomes consequently cooler and airier, perfect to take you into an exotic land you don’t want to leave anymore. Her vocals sound a bit immature but that add a soothy dimension to the songs. Thus, Band Aid with its island feel will make you feel good, whereas My Love will calm things down with its flowy R’n’B-ish melody.
This part of the opus aims to raise love issues and to unveil the different sides of the most powerful feeling a human being is able to feel.
Dancy anthems are also present on “Turn it up” with such dynamic tunes like “Boys & Girls” that makes you wanna have a party. Besides, this track is the most precious treasure in Miss Lott’s casket. Pixie effortlessly rides the beat of the song with her impressive vocals. The chorus is really catchy and intoxicating, especially when Pixie keeps repeating “All the boys and the girls (no you just can’t stop)”. “Turn it up “is also another danceable track that gets stuck in my head and drives me completely insane.
“Here we Go again” for her. This is what I can call a hit due to its infectious beats and great arrangements. Pixie Lott gave it a special dimension, so that it sounds both English and so modern. At last, “Gravity” is another gold nugget present on this album. This is a dynamic ballad but sounding still very touching. Pixie’s synthesized voice makes it really powerful. It sounds quite “industrial” because of this point; however it’s still addictive and pleasant to hear. It’s different from the others ballads and I think that is its strongest point. The melodic efficaciousness seems to prevail over the emotion it’s supposed to express, and I can say it works well.
With this second part, Pixie demonstrates she’s able make you dance as well as she can touch you.
To conclude with this review, I will briefly talk about the two disappointments of this musical production. That is of course “The Way the Words Work” and “Hold me in your arms“which are weaker than the previous songs. These are classic, I can even say generic ballads. Pixie Lott is singing well, but it’s still quite forgettable, that’s why I won’t enlarge on this subject.
Is this album good? Did Pixie Lott take up the challenge? My answer is yes.
Although this album is classic and maybe sometimes a bit too easy to listen, it really shows us Pixie Lott’s personality, and that’s what I was expecting from a debut album. Pixie displayed her singing talent and disclosed the different sides of her music direction, her soul and her life. It’s not perfect: some songs lack of substance, and yet I like all the songs on the same level because all of them have their own atmosphere and feeling. It’s globally a cohesive album, so that shows that Pixie didn’t make fun of us and give to us a musical production she get involved in. As a conclusion, you can listen to it with your eyes closed.

I’m sorry to have written such a long review but Pixie Lott worked so much on it that I finally have many things to say.
Passion Pit - Manners
Electronica isn’t always too catchy in my opinion. It seems to wander a bunch and rely too much on repetition. Verses usually consist of the same line or lines repeated non-stop with only the music changing, or perhaps the vocal delivery. Passion Pit mixes electronica with traditional pop song structures and approaches, making everything on their Manners album undeniably hard to resist. Great for any time in which energy is needed, because the songs all have addictive upbeat rhythms pulsing through the electronic phases and samples. Every tune is danceable, and every song works extremely well for running or something that evokes the need to expend a lot of pent up emotion and stress (any type of physical activity, really–yes, this includes sex).
A little mix a made for me, myself and my ipod. Spacy pop disco is the name of the game. Enjoy.

¡Hola a todos los lectores del blog! Hoy he decidido crear una nueva sección musica para compartir con vosotros todas las canciones que me llenan, es decir, éstas que al escucharlas me hacen sentir cosas, las canciones que hacen pensar, o las que a mí más me gusten. Es un apartado para compartir música actual y que todos podamos opinar y comentar sobre las canciones y los compositores o cantantes. Aquí os dejo con el primer repertorio:
Une collection aux allures de manifeste – Cette saison, je rends hommage à Bridget Riley et Claude Viallat, dont les audaces graphiques et optiques font l’effet d’une vibration sur la toile.
Pour entamer l’hiver, je souhaitais une atténuation de la couleur, avec des pièces réalisées principalement en noir et blanc tout en donnant l’impression d’un éclat de lumière et de vibration. La seule touche colorée semble aléatoire et hors sujet.
La forme colorée s’inspire directement des chapeaux que l’on a pu découvrir lors du dernier défilé Vuitton (des noeuds aux allures d’oreilles de lapin). Elle entoure la silhouette et brise le fond damier hypnotique qui serait trop présent sans cela.
En regardant de plus prés, on constate que tout est motif et répétition dans cette composition : le cadrillage, les pois corail ton sur ton, les cheveux formant des boucles et les rayures brisant les aplats noirs. A y réfléchir les cours que j’ai eu avec Claude Viallat à l’Université y sont pour beaucoup. Travaillant toujours plus l’accent sur les rapports de densité, d’intensité et de brillance entre les surfaces colorées et une forme répétée.

La Sélec’ 6 est disponible depuis mi août dans les médiathèques. Les amateurs de chanson française n’ont pas été oubliés et il y en a pour tous les goûts (ou presque).
Un beau mélange de genres donc (comme le laisse deviner les pochettes ci-dessus) mais aussi un point commun à tous ces artistes: un certain décalage. Hors de tout formatage, une même liberté dans la démarche qu’elle soit littéraire ou plus ludique, pop ou engagée, grave ou légère. Cette même façon de prendre la chanson par la bande et de se jouer des courants dominants. Quelque soit la manière ou l’univers, les mots vous questionnent, vous titillent. Evocation poétique, dépaysement ou interpellation frontale et sans concession mais aussi des textes qui passent au second plan pour laisser place à la musique.
Quelques mots, sons et images des albums en question, un avant-goût de vos futurs emprunts à la médiathèque…
“Cristal Ballroom” est un album sombre, luxuriant, regorgeant d’instruments et de poésie.De sa voix grave, un rien éraillée, BABX vous entraîne dans une suite d’ambiances, d’histoires et souvent de voyages (Senza, saxophone, balalaïka, …). Danseurs désabusés, amours déchus, bienvenus dans le cabaret mélancolique de BABX.
Avec son “Fantomatisme”, Holden nous offre de replonger dans cet univers pop et poétique qui leur est propre. Une poésie discrète et une profondeur qui se révèle au fil d’écoutes répétées. De plages en plages, aquarelles sensibles illustrant presque toute le trouble d’exister, la perte, le doute. Et bien sûr le chant d’Armelle Pioline, alangui, nonchalant et lointain s’abandonnant aux courbes claires des mélodies ou se fondant par moment aux apparitions sonores diverses et impromptues (chorale, vibraphone, grésillements électroniques, …).
A l’écoute de “Stromboli”, second album pour Montgomery mieux vaut ne pas chercher la direction que le groupe à voulu prendre tant il est vrai qu’ils partent dans tous les sens. Pop, rock, envolées planantes ou électronica, tout y passe et il ne tient qu’à vous de suivre ce groupe qui ne se prend pas au sérieux et ne craint pas d’emprunter ces horizons musicaux parfois très différents. Et si parfois les paroles sont un peu bizarres voir incompréhensibles disons que c’est un des ingrédients de ce gentil délire et que cela ne gâche pas votre plaisir.
“Je remercie le hasard qui”, quatrième album pour Ignatus depuis la fin du duo qu’il formait avec Olivier Libaux, Les Objets. Loin des projecteurs et de toute agitation médiatique (son clip “Dans l’herbe” – voir ci-dessous - à malgré tout fait pas mal de bruit sur internet) il poursuit son chemin, invariablement caractérisé par un univers singulier et personnel. Le fait d’autoproduire cet album représente sans doute un pas supplémentaire vers cette liberté artistique. Liberté savourée, Ignatus à pris le temps (plusieurs années de home studio) d’écrire, arranger, chercher. C’est ainsi que son univers serein, chaleureux entre douce mélancolie et joies simples s’est enrichi des sons et d’instruments (cuivres, sanzas, orchestre de mélodicas, voix pygmées, clochettes, orgue à bouche, …) Textes qui font mouches, arrangements superbes et trouvailles sonores, un album qui paraît trop court (40′) et qu’on ne se lasse pas d’écouter.
Le second album de Nonstop, “Je n’ai rien compris mais je suis d’accord” se situe à nouveau aux croisements du hip-hop, du rock, de l’electro et de la chanson. Frédo Roman manie la langue française avec autant d’adresse que de rage. Les textes qu’ils soient criés, éructés ou simplement dits sont toujours intelligibles et souvent fascinants pour peu que vous acceptiez leur noirceur, leur étrangeté voir leur violence. Pas de violence gratuite mais une réaction cinglante et féroce contre notre époque pour exprimer le doute, l’injustice, le rejet de toute déshumanisation. Diverses personnalité gravitent autour de projet, Richard Roman (Diabologum) le frère de Frédo, Arnaud Michniak (Diabologum, Programme) et Serge Teyssot-Gay (Noir Désir).
La réputation de Karkwa n’est plus à faire au Québec et avec “Le volume du vent”, leur troisième album, gageons que leur popularité va encore grandir chez nous. Ils chantent en français, l’accent canadien en prime bien sûr, mais pour le reste c’est bien de pop-rock à l’anglo-saxonne qu’il s’agit; Radiohead est souvent cité comme parent proche. A vous de juger et pourquoi pas en écoutant le morceau ci-dessous.

Mesmo depois de ser devidamente enterrado, o cantor norte-americano Michael Jackson continuará sendo a celebridade a faturar mais como marca em 2010. A aposta é dos analistas de mercado britânico, que elegeram Michael o “mais valorizado” de uma lista de 20 celebridades com poder para movimentar as caixas registradoras no país.
O ranking inclui o cantor Elvis Presley, o ator Heath Ledger (o Coringa de Batman) e a vencedora do Big Brother, Jade Goody, todos falecidos.
Morto aos 50 anos, a imagem de Jackson tem potencial para vender de roupas e acessórios até bonecos e chaveiros, ampliando uma já lucrativa linha comercial que deve perdurar com os anos.
A lista traz ainda os atores Daniel Radcliffe e Emma Watson, de “Harry Potter”, cantoras pop como Lady GaGa e Britney Spears, o ator Robert Pattinson, o vampiro de “Twilight”, a herdeira e empresária Paris Hilton, e esportistas como o corredor de Fórmula 1, Lewis Hamilton.

Het bericht van gisteren deed me aan Lily Allen denken. Ik heb een zwak voor Lily Allen. Vooral als ze weer eens met de tietjes bloot in de boekskes staat. Maar ook wel omdat ze een lekker grofgebekt prinsesje is. En ze schrijft wel eens een leuk nummer. Op het werk spuit een commerciële radio vierentwintig uur per dag groengele diarree de gang, receptie en ontspanningsruimte in. Geloof me: als er een liedje van haar hand passeert begin je vanzelf te glimlachen. Vóór de release van haar laatste album gaf Lily geluidsbestanden vrij waarmee remixers hun gang mochten gaan. De mysterieuze Amerikaan Doctor Rosen Rosen plakte Lily’s stemmetjes over compleet nieuwe backing tracks en remixte op die manier het volledige album. Het resultaat, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s… Doctor Rosen Rosen’, is verrassend goed. Een stevige lap donkere, melancholische synthpop. Kid Cudi is in the UK right now and had an interview with DJ Semtex, a long time supporter of Cudi’s. During the hour plus interview, the two of them put on several of Cudi’s songs, three of which were new one’s off Man on the Moon: the End of Day. I can’t say I was dissapointed with any of them, they’re all dope. The newer version of “Sky Might Fall” has a bit of extra vocals at the end, and in all has a deeper sound.
Concerning the interview, it’s over an hour. I listened through it and enjoyed it. The two talk about Cudi’s song on Jay’s new album, “Day N Night” hype, do some shout outs, and discuss his rise all in all. Check it out if you have a bit of time on your hands.
